Attributes

Character and background

Warm Minimalism is a contemporary treatment that takes the few elements and clear space of minimalism and softens them with natural materials, earthy tones and texture. It is not a historical movement in itself.

Typical elements

Typical elements include natural timber, plaster, linen and wool, sandy, cream and quiet brown tones, furniture with soft lines and warm indirect lighting. Comfort comes from texture rather than quantity.

How we approach it in a project

We start from your brief and your space, then plan the layout, design and present the idea through 3D visualisation, with your sign-off at each approval point. We decide with you what stays in the space and what goes, and plan storage so the calm holds up in daily use. This sits within our interior design service.

When it suits, and what to watch

It suits anyone who wants a quiet, comfortable home or workplace. We watch for simplicity turning into dull sameness of colour, and for materials that are hard to keep looking good with use.
